Top figure is a photograph taken by William Niering in 1963 from just south of the Headquarters upland (north of station 14) looking NNE into impoundment 2. Bottom figure is a photograph taken by Ron Rozsa in 2015. Impoundment 2 was subject to tidal flow restoration in 1978. In the foreground are stunted Spartina alterniflora pannes interspersed with salt panne. The Panicum belt in the 1963 at the edge of the forest on the left has been replaced by Iva frutescens in 2015.
